High quality merit (open) shop contractors should – and do – invest in registered apprenticeship training because the construction industry needs safe, skill workers.
The Merit Apprenticeship Alliance, Inc. (Alliance), is a statewide consortium of almost 100 quality-driven, open shop building and highway contractors. Our firms participate in registered apprenticeship training programs to promote careers in construction and expand business.
The Alliance proudly provides NYSDOL & USDOL approved apprenticeship training in the Carpentry, Operating Engineer (heavy equipment), Craft Laborer, Ironworker and Cement Finisher/Mason trades.
Our firms comply with New York and New Jersey bid specifications that require contractors to participate in registered apprenticeship training.
The Alliance strives to partner with only those construction firms who are dedicated to our quality standards for excellence. The Alliance is an independent entity and unaffiliated with any other organization.
The Alliance provides apprentices with a comprehensive curriculum for on the job training (OJT) and related instruction (RI) that reflects the nature and scope of the work in the Carpentry, Operating Engineer, Laborer, Ironworker & Cement Finisher/Mason trades.
The Alliance proudly offers New York State and US Department of Labor approved apprenticeship training in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Alliance programs provide high quality OJT provided by our partnering contractors, and related instruction (RI) based on nationally recognized skill standards accredited by the National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER). Classroom and related instruction is delivered by NYSED approved providers.
